Townsend Elementary will hold a book fair next week!
The times are 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on September 20, 21, and 22. There will also be night hours on September 21, from 5:30-7 p.m. during open house!

New York Thursdays are coming!
New York Thursday meals are cooked from scratch within the district cafeteria and will be held 14 times throughout the school year. The meals use seasonal foods that are grown, harvested, or produced in New York.
The dates for the 2023-24 school year are as follows:

Meet the Townsend Summer Reading Program Staff!
Townsend's Summer Reading Program 2023 was a fun time for our students. This week is the last week of our program. Here are a few snapshots into their learning!
During the final weeks of the school year, the annual tradition of Jodie Day’s third-grade class holding a wax museum continued as the final part of a research project.
During the project, students work on an autobiography, and share important items with the class. Items can be anything, such as photos, jewelry, sports cards, or other things. The project is done at the end of the year, as it allows students to learn things about classmates.
After that project, students then research another person, write a biography, and create a fact poster to display information about that person. The final step is to dress the part, have props, and pretend to be wax forms of the person.
Family, friends, and other classes are invited to then walk through the museum as students do their best to stay still throughout.

REMINDER: The annual budget vote and Board of Education election for the Walton Central School District will take place from 12-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 at the district bus garage.

Townsend Elementary will host its annual recital at 6 p.m. May 10 in the Townsend auditorium.
Performing will be the beginning band, directed by Theresa Bolton, and the beginning orchestra, directed by Giancarlo Sidoli. Instrumental solos and small-group performances will also be held.
The spring elementary concert will be held at 6 p.m. May 18 in the high school auditorium.
Performing will be the third-grade chorus and advanced band, directed by Bolton. The fifth-grade chorus, and orchestra, under the direction of Sidoli, will also perform.
