The Save a Life Tour visited Walton, teaching students about things that can go wrong when driving distracted. The event also was interactive, as students had the opportunity to experience how things can be when driving distracted.

Morris Belzer, a retired special education teacher at Walton CSD, had asked teacher Sal Salvia if it would be possible to build a mailbox stand. Sophomore Sabastion Thompson, who is in Salvia’s electronics class, volunteered to make the stand.
He started by cutting down the pressure-treated wood pieces to size, and assembled it. The process included 4-inch bolts with nuts, and 4-inch wood screws for the angle support. In all, it took Sabation about three classes to complete the mailbox stand.
Great work!

AVP recently held its advanced workshop for students in grades 8-12. The group participated in activities that encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and building conflict resolution skills. The connections between these students have continued to grow, which is wonderful to see!

Students in Mr. Cutting’s Environmental Science class recently completed a project on maple syrup. Students tapped trees around the school, collected and boiled sap, and finished the syrup, which they were then able to take home with them.
The class also had hot dogs cooked in sap while boiling, and a pancake party at the end with the extra syrup.

Members of the Walton CSD chapter of the National Honor Society recently collected pet supplies for the Delaware Valley Humane Society in Sidney.
Rachel Trimbell and Makara MacGibbon led the effort, and donations were collected from all three schools. Students at Townsend Elementary competed to earn a pizza party for having the most donations. First graders came out on top and will enjoy their party later this spring.
