Students in Sal Salvia’s transportation class are building custom bicycles this year. They are utilizing parts from used bicycles for their own custom builds.
During class, they are learning the parts of a bike, and how to take it apart and reassemble it into a new design. Tool-use safety, mig welding, metal work, and bicycle safety are also topics being covered. The assignment is to build a custom bike out of available bicycles.
Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be showcasing the students as they finish their bikes.
For the first, we are showing you Mr. Salvia’s “example” design. From then on out, we will be showcasing the students work.
Mr. Salvia’s was made of from parts of five bicycles. He designed and fabricated it, then student William Neske took it apart, painted it, and greased all areas. The bike has a 24-inch front form, BMX handlebars, a 59-inch chain, adjustable seat post with a rim frame support, 16x2 tires, and an extended kickstand, which is Mr. Salvia’s favorite part. He calls the bike “Rusty Gold.”
Keep watching our Facebook and website for more of these fantastic creations!

The Walton CSD high school band, orchestra, and chorus participated in the High Note Music Festival in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Each year, the music department prepared all year to play music for high quality judges at this spring adjudication festival. This year’s adjudicators were veteran music teachers who recorded both written and spoken comments as the musicians performed. These critiques are used to help educate the students and give them instruction about how to be better musicians/performers.
The chorus and orchestra, each directed by Rebekah Doig, both received a rating of excellent. The band, directed by Raymond Bartlett, received a rating of superior.
Congratulations to all involved on these great performances!
