For the fourth time, Jodie Day’s third-grade class was selected as a winner for an outstanding poetry entry for the New York City Department of Environmental Protections 39th annual Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest.
The contest received more than 1,800 artwork and poetry pieces from watershed and New York City students.
The poem is below. Great work!
Who needs clean water? We really want to know.
Animals, people, flowers and gardens are able to grow.
Together we can help supply NYC with a water source.
Each drop of water from the Catskills is a magical force.
Rivers, reservoirs, oceans, ponds and lakes
Help collect the raindrops, but that’s not all it takes.
2025 and continuing year after year after year
Our mission to provide clean water to NYC is clear!
