Walton CSD’s chapter of the FFA recently attended the Eastern Region Substates in Windsor. More than 320 students, 39 advisors, and 70 judges participated in the day of service, which produced 270 cat toys and 170 dog toys that will go to shelters in the area of each FFA chapter in attendance. Walton had 12 FFA members advance to the sub-state level. Two students advanced to states in junior prepared public speaking. Only the top two in each competition move on to states. More than 20 students were in each competition. Walton’s two moving onto states are: First place: Lauren Sloan-Boice Second place: William Voorhies The two students will compete in Buffalo at the New York State convention in May. Also at the convention will be Isabella Yetto and Mackenzie Backus, who will receive their Empire Degree, which is the highest honor students can receive at the state level. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Members of Walton CSD’s music department recently visited Townsend Elementary. The high school band, orchestra, and chorus put on a small concert for the younger students, as well as explaining their instruments and what they do. The small animal class has been learning about the many different dog breeds, and the groups of which they are a part. The students then held a dog show. Part of the lesson was to create a cutout that had to be as life-size as possible. an AKC (American Kennel Club) breed, and the dog needed to be wearing a collar and leash, among other basic assignment requirements. After creating their dogs, students were tasked to show their dog. Judges were Art Loomis (HS principal), Ryan Ashlaw (MS/HS assistant principal), Denise Webler (HS secretary), and Gayla MacGibbon (student services secretary). Good luck to the Walton CSD boys volleyball team at the Midstate Athletic Conference tournament today! The tournament is being held at Sidney. Eight teams are taking part in the championship, which is set up as pool play with two 4-team groups. The top two teams in each pool advance to championship play. Recently. Walton CSD sophomores visited the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus to explore possible two trades of their choice. The students have a chance to see things first hand so they can decide if they would like to attend BOCES starting with their junior year. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

AVP recently held its advanced workshop with a great group of student facilitators and participants! The group continues to make valuable connections while enhancing their team building and conflict resolution skills.
