Walton CSD Superintendent Finalists

The Walton Central School District Board of Education has announced the final two candidates in the search for a new Superintendent. The candidates are Teresa L. Glavin and Adam Hoover. Please see bios on each candidate below.

The community and interested stakeholders are invited to a candidate forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 22 in the high school auditorium. DCMO BOCES District Superintendent Michael Rullo, who is serving as Walton’s search consultant, will lead the forum. A snow date is set for January 23.

For those in attendance, there will be a survey to complete immediately after the forum. Results will be provided to the Board of Education for consideration.

A special Board of Education meeting will follow the forum in the board room. It is anticipated the BOE will immediately convene an executive session for the purpose of discussing matters relating to the future employment of a particular person.

Teresa L. Glavin

Mrs. Teresa L. Glavin is a passionate educator that is dedicated to fostering excellence and equity in education by developing strong relationships, instilling student-centered practices and focusing on engaging with the whole school community.

Mrs. Glavin has served both the ONC and DCMO BOCES regions for over 30 years. Currently, she serves as the PreK-12 building principal at Franklin CSD. Other leadership positions include being an ONC BOCES Director of Instructional Support Services and building principal at Milford CSD. She served as an ONC BOCES Staff Development Specialist and the Charlotte Valley CSD’s Reading First District Coordinator/Data Coordinator. Prior to that, she taught at Charlotte Valley CSD in grades 3 and 6. Mrs. Glavin holds NYS certifications in N-6 Teacher, K-12 Reading, School Building Leader and School District Leader.

Mrs. Glavin has worked collaboratively in all of her roles to spearhead initiatives to promote instructional best practices, student-centered learning, safe social-emotional learning environments, academic rigor, and ultimately close achievement gaps.

Mrs. Glavin lives in Oneonta. She has two adult daughters, Sienna-Morgan and Shane-Isabella. Sienna is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and resides with her husband in Sidney, Maine. Shane is a freelance woodworker and works as a carpenter at SUNY Oneonta.

Mrs. Glavin loves spending time with her family and friends, and prioritizes the role as caregiver to them all. She also enjoys being in nature, going on hiking trails, kayaking, and boating on Otsego Lake in warm weather, and snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter months.

Mrs. Glavin enjoys engaging in her school and home communities. She has been involved in many community organizations and activities.   

Adam Hoover

Adam Hoover was born and raised in Walton. After graduating from O’Neill High School in 1998, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Syracuse University in 2002. Mr. Hoover worked as a substitute teacher and coached in the Walton district for several years before returning to school to earn a degree in Childhood Education from SUNY Oneonta.

Mr. Hoover began his full-time career in education in 2006 at Valleyview Elementary School in the Oneonta City School District, teaching fifth and sixth graders. He also coached football and track and field for Oneonta. While teaching, Mr. Hoover earned a master’s degree from Walden University, focusing on Integrating Technology in the Classroom, and his educational leadership certification from the University of Scranton. During his time in Oneonta, Mr. Hoover served on the District Curriculum Advisory Team, the District Curricular Technology Committee, and the School-Based Inquiry Team.

In 2013, Mr. Hoover returned to his home district to teach 8th and 9th grade English. In 2017, he was named head football coach. After two stints as a long-term substitute Director of Special Education, he took over the position full-time in July 2018. Mr. Hoover was named principal of Dr. George F. Mack Middle School in November 2018, and was additionally named Athletic Director in 2021. Mr. Hoover currently still holds both of those positions. During this time, he completed the New York State Superintendent Development Program through SUNY Oswego.

Mr. Hoover and his wife Amanda live in Walton with their two children, Ava and Alex, and their two dogs, Raya and Ahsoka.
