Dear Walton School Community:
The Walton Central School District Board of Education continues to make excellent progress in its search for our new Superintendent of Schools. As part of the decision-making process, the BOE is hosting a community forum on Wednesday, January 22. The forum will allow each candidate to present to community members, as well as answer some questions. This is a listening-only session for community members in attendance.
The forum is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 22 in the high school auditorium. A snow date is scheduled for Thursday, January 23. The schedule is as follows:
6-7 p.m.: Candidate No. 1
7:15-8:15 p.m.: Candidate No. 2
During the forum, each candidate will have approximately 20 minutes to offer a presentation introducing themselves and their candidacy. They will then answer questions, moderated by our consultant, for about 20-25 minutes. After the Q&A session, community members in the audience will be able to provide feedback to the BOE through a survey. The BOE will use this feedback in making its final decision on the successful candidate.
Please note: Though the questions that evening will be asked by our consultant, Mike Rullo, the questions will be generated from a survey provided to our WCS staff, students, and community.
The BOE is interested in learning the type of questions our community would like to hear answered by each candidate. We ask the community to participate in a survey to help with this. You can access the survey by visiting: https://forms.gle/sQRWnS2tzBRt2YZ16.
We thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out this survey. Please remember, this survey is intended for Walton CSD residents, students, and district employees. The survey will close at 3 p.m. Friday, January 17.
During the week of January 14-17, the district will release a bio and photo of each candidate who will present at the community forum. This information will be released through our normal communication channels.
We hope you will be able to attend this community forum and have a chance to hear from each candidate. We are close to bringing this process to a conclusion and are excited to have our new superintendent selected and ready to begin!
Yours in education,
Walton Central School District Board of Education
