The Walton Central School District has teamed with Lourdes Hospital to bring its mobile dental van to the district.
This mobile dental clinic can provide dental services to any child at a participating school, who also enrolls in the Lourdes School Based Dental Program. The goal is to get a child’s mouth to a healthy state through a focus on prevention and education.
“This is a great addition to our district,” Walton Central School District Superintendent Dr. Michael MacDonald said. “It is a big benefit when students can get this type of care while at school. We look forward to building our relationship with Lourdes.”
Services include:
Dental exams
Dental cleanings
X-rays
Fluoride treatments
Dental sealants
Fillings
Simple extractions
Free dental screenings are also provided.
Lourdes participates with Medicaid, Medicaid-managed care plans, and private insurances. No child is refused services because of a lack of insurance, or inability to pay.
If a child has a current dental provider, Lourdes works with them to ensure no duplicate dental services are performed. Following every visit, parents and the child’s dental provider will receive a letter about all services provided, including a detailed list of any findings or treatment completed.
This also means parents no longer have to miss work or find transportation as your child can receive the benefit of full dental services while missing just a minimal amount of school.
Paperwork for this program has been sent home with your child(ren). If you are interested in having your child receive dental services through the mobile van, please complete the packet and send it back to your child(ren)’s teacher(s).
