The Walton Central School District will host its annual music awards concert at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8. It will be held in the courtyard of the O’Neill High School.

The event will have a limited capacity for guests to stay within current gathering limits by the New York State Department of Health. All mask and social distancing policies will be required during the duration of this event, including a separate area where guests can eat and be in compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Those interested can contact Ray Bartlett or Rebecca Doig at Walton CSD to pre-register. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

A barbecue-style picnic is sponsored by the Friends of music and will cost $3 for adults and $1 for students.

Throughout the evening, a variety of string, brass, woodwind, and choral ensembles and soloists will perform.

The event will be capped off with short performances by the high school ensembles, which include the orchestra, chorus, and band.

Letter and pin awards, as well as NYSSMA medals will be presented. Special senior recognition awards and underclassmen award given by the Friends of Music will also be handed out.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside.
