Voters in the Walton Central School District approved the proposed 2021-22 budget of $22,292,000.

The final budget vote was:

Yes: 261 No: 88

“We want to thank the Walton Central School District community for supporting the budget,” Walton Superintendent Dr. Michael MacDonald said. “The continual support of our students and district has been felt even more during this year of navigating the pandemic. As we move closer to moving back to normal operations and programming, the approved budget has maintained all programming with a focus on the future for our district and community.”

Voters also elected three members to the Board of Education. Ronda Williams earned reelection, and Tammie Tweedie and Alan Budine were elected by write-in vote. The top two vote-getters are for full three-year terms, and the third spot starts immediately upon taking the oath of office and runs through June 2022. The final tally was as follows:

Ronda Williams: 261 Tammie Tweedie (write in): 117 Alan Budine (write in): 112

Voters also approved a proposition to lease three new buses for five years, at a net cost of no greater than $325,000. The final tally on that vote was:

Yes: 247 No: 102

Also decided was the William B. Ogden Free Library budget. That was passed by a final tally of 236-114. The library budget is voted on via the school budget because of state law; however, it is not part of the district budget.
