The Walton Central School District worked in partnership with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for a hold-in-place drill Friday morning at the high school. The Sheriff’s K-9 unit assisted with the drill.

The drill is held annually.

Sergeant Christopher Erwin and Deputy Kyle Karcher were in attendance with K-9 Eli, and conducted a K-9 sweep of the high school along with school administrators. During the drill, a training placebo was placed in an empty locker, which Eli found.

The drill took approximately 15 minutes.

“The drill went very well,” said Walton Director of Technology Rick Robinson, who is also the district’s safety coordinator. “We want to thank the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department for continually supporting our district’s safety protocols and their willingness to assist with these types of search drills on an annual basis.”
