Each year the construction class builds a structure – normally a shed. The structure (materials etc.) is paid for by the person who will receive it.
This year, because of the pandemic and everything surrounding it, the class built a smaller 4x4 playhouse, which is the smallest the class has ever built. However, the plan was to make sure to have it done by the end of the semester. The smaller structure turned out to be a good choice as it was finished on the last day of the semester.
The playhouse has three-tab shingles with a Gambrel-style roof. It also has a single swing door and three sliding Plexiglas windows. The windows were custom built by some of the students in class. The playhouse was built inside the shop this year because of the cold winter months.
Students enjoyed the process of building the playhouse, as well as the model of it beforehand. Some students noted the model was just as hard as the real shed.
