The annual Pennies from Heaven fundraiser collected 1020 pounds of pennies this year.
Held throughout the month of February at Townsend Elementary, the total should come out to approximately $1,700, which is donated to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.
This year’s winning class is Betsy Stinson’s kindergarten class, which collected 157 pounds! The winning class receives a pizza and ice cream party from the hospital.
The program, which began in 1998, finished its 24th year. Over that time, Townsend Elementary has raised 24,157 pounds, which comes out to more than $39,000 donated.
