Townsend Elementary’s annual school Halloween window painting contest was held, with students painting downtown windows.

Nine windows were painted with various themes. The winner, with their window at Catskill Dance Moves, was Addyson VanValkenburg and Lila Trimbell. Their painting featured a ghost ballerina, with a headstone of “RIP 2020.”

Second place went to Annika Fassler, Esther Salvia, and Gjianna Ildefonso, who painted a trio of pumpkins with a kitten peek out of the top. This was at Molto Espresso. Third place was earned by Emma Kingsbury and Ava Merwin, who painted a graveyard scene with wolves howling at the moon at Corey Northrup Contracting.

Art teacher Lori Cucciarre organizes the event each year, and a special thank you to all businesses who allow the students to paint their windows.
