Voters in the Walton Central School District approved the proposed 2020-21 budget of $21,549,412.
The budget had a decrease of 1 percent, with an estimated tax levy increase of 2 percent.
The vote this year was done via absentee ballot, with the results tallied on Tuesday, June 16.
The final vote for the budget was:
Yes: 796
No: 292
“I would like to thank the community for once again supporting the district, especially during these tough times,” Walton Interim Superintendent Larry Thomas said. “With a talented leadership team, an outstanding staff, and the support of a wonderful community, I know that the future is very bright for this district. Thank you, again, for your support."
Voters also elected incumbents M. Graydon Dutcher and Paul F. Wood to Board of Education seats. The final tally for the BOE election was as follows:
M. Graydon Dutcher: 945
Paul F. Wood: 974
Voters also approved a proposition to lease three new buses for five years, at a net cost of no greater than $262,500. The final tally on that vote was:
Yes: 752
No: 337
Also decided was the William B. Ogden Free Library budget. That was passed by a final tally of 735-359. The library budget is voted on via the school budget because of state law, however, it is not part of the district budget.
