Walton CSD names valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020

The Walton Central School District has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020.
 
The valedictorian is Isaac Vesterfelt, and the salutatorian is Michelle Ritter. Each is scheduled to speak during the annual graduation ceremony, which is currently scheduled for June 27.
 
Valedictorian 
 
Vesterfelt is an active student, academically and athletically. A three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, and track, he is on the National Honor Society, and serves as the treasurer for student council. He also had recently joined the high school musical. 
 
Academically, Vesterfelt is well decorated. A QuestBridge finalist, he also is a HOBY alumnus, a MAC scholar-athlete, and has been consistently on the Superintendent’s List. He’s also had various scholastic achievements in such subjects as physics, AP literature and composition, chemistry, global studies, and Spanish. 
 
On the athletics side, Vesterfelt was a sectional champion in the mile and on the winning 4x400 relay team. He also was runner up in the half-mile. 
 
Vesterfelt is the son of Rachel and Christian Vesterfelt and will attend Brigham Young University. A member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, he will serve a two-year mission after his first year of school. Once his mission ends, he will return to BYU to finish his degree. 

 
Salutatorian
 
Ritter as set high standards, which has helped her become a highly respected member of the student community at Walton.
 
She’s active within the school, especially in the arts as she is a member of the drama club, dance, orchestra, band, speech and debate, and the high school musical. 
 
Ritter challenges herself by taking the most demanding coursework offered at Walton. A well-rounded student, she’s a member of student council, the National Honor Society, and is consistently on the Superintendent’s List. She’s also been honored with various academic achievement awards, including in subjects such as physics, calculus, and music. 
 
Ritter is the daughter of Wendy Kosco and Michael Ritter. She will attend Oneonta State for music/business industry this fall.
