Townsend receives donation of gloves

The Southern Tier Chapter of the Nam Knights donated 100 pair of fleece gloves to Townsend Elementary School on Thursday.
The gloves are for when students’ gloves are wet or forgotten.

The Knights were responding to a message that had read for parents, which reminded them to have students return borrowed gloves to the nurse’s office or playground aide when they were used for outdoor recess. Students in need of a new pair of gloves can also be provided with a pair to take home.

Haggerty Ace Hardware also helped by selling the gloves to the chapter at cost.

“We are so grateful to have enough gloves to lend to kids so they can play outside, and then return them for the next child who needs a pair,” said Townsend Elementary Nurse LeeAnn Otto. “They are also handy for those who get to wet and make their hands too cold.”

Otto also said to remember students also need to be dressed in hats, coats, boots, and gloves/mittens to go outside daily.
