A late push by the fifth graders allowed the grade to pull away enough to hold off the third grade and win the March Math Fact Madness Tournament at Townsend Elementary.

Nearly 300 tests were taken over a three-day period, when students in grades 3-5 give up their recess time to take two-minute tests and compete against other grades. More than 100 tests were taken on each of the second and third days.

The fifth graders won the tournament with 352 points, followed by the third grade with 273. The fourth grade finished with 223 points.
