Handwashing clinics held at Townsend
In December, UHS Delaware Valley held some handwashing clinics at Townsend Elementary, helping students be more mindful when washing their hands to help stop the spread of germs.
Students washed their hands before putting them under a special light, which is designed to show them spots they had missed. Students were surprised to see the white glow on spots where they needed to concentrate. After washing again, they came back to look under the light and see the better job they had done.
Common areas of need were the knuckles, wrests, and sides of hands.
UHS Delaware Valley Director of Community Relations Dotti Kruppo and her assistant Jennifer Smith guided the students in the best handwashing techniques, and gave them a lesson on how important hand washing is, especially during flu season.
The children were also given a “Handwashing Warrior” certificate, and they were taught a catchy jingle to sing when washing their hands.
