The Walton Central School District music department will present Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 in the high school auditorium.
Tickets in advance are $7 for adults and $5 for students. At the door, the prices are $8 for adults, and $6 for students. A senior show, which is free to senior citizens, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 3.
Walton’s production will feature Kahrin Vesterfelt as Mary Poppins, and Elijah Williams as Bert. Other performers include Daniel Sullivan and Ema Venckute as Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Raleigh Gardepe will play the part of Jane, and Maddox Little will fill the role of Michael, the Banks’ children.
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces the audience to the troubled Banks family and England in 1910. Young Jane and Michael have sent many nannies packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."
Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, and breathtaking dance numbers. It is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Mary Poppins was one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and will capture your heart in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Cameron Mackintosh and Disney's Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for more than 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
