A familiar face will soon be seen walking the halls at the Walton Central School District.\
The Walton Central School District will have a full-time school resource officer, beginning in early February. Walton graduate and lifelong resident Bill Beers was hired for the position through the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
The SRO position is full-time, five days a week.
Beers, who recently retired from the Department of Environmental Protection, served as a Board of Education member from 2012-14.
“I’m looking forward to protecting and serving the Walton Central School District,” Beers said. “And for a continued great relationship with staff and kids who I know, and for others I look forward to getting to know.”
Beers will enhance the security within the district, and will be present in all three buildings.
"We are proud to be able to add an SRO to our safety program at the Walton Central School District,” Walton CSD Superintendent Dr. Michael MacDonald said. “A safe, nurturing and engaging environment is always our mission for our students and staff. The SRO is another element to assist us to reach our mission."
