(Updated September 18, 2024)
The Walton Central School District has been notified of an additional threat made on social media, similar to those made in the past 24 hours. We have worked with local and state law enforcement and they have determined the threat is not credible. Based on advice from law enforcement, we will continue our normal daily procedures.
The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority. Please be vigilant and notify your building administration if you deem anything out of the ordinary.

Dear Walton Community:
We were informed late Tuesday evening about a social media screenshot that indicated there would be a threat directed at BOCES and the Walton High School and Middle School tomorrow. As we do with all potential threats against our school, we immediately began to investigate. This included engaging with the Walton Police Department and the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
After authorities determined the threat was not credible, the district will have school on Wednesday on our normal schedule. The investigation as to the origin of the post is ongoing. Additional law enforcement will be on our campus during the day to reduce concern and increase safety. As we do each day, we will remain vigilant in our effort to maintain a safe school environment. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
We thank and applaud the individuals who reported the social media posts so the appropriate steps could be taken. To ensure the safety and well being of our communities, we must all continue to work together. You are always encouraged to speak up immediately when there is a cause for concern.
Remember, if you see something, say something. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to law enforcement if you have any information related to the safety of our school or communities. We must work together to provide safe, secure, and inviting learning environments in which our students can grow and thrive.
