Students after helping plant a tree enjoy popsicles

Fifth-grade students listen to a presentation about planting trees

Representatives from Delaware County Soil and Water recently visited Townsend Elementary and planted a tree, along with help from fifth graders. The dogwood tree was planted near the greenhouse.

 

Before the planting, the representatives spoke with students about the tree, the importance of trees, and how to properly plant a tree.

 

The representatives Included CSBI coordinator Catherine Skalda, stream technician Jessica Patterson, and administrative aide Donna Wood.

 

Following the presentation and the planting of the tree, students were treated to popsicles on a wonderful spring day!
