The Walton Central School District partnered with the New York State Police and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for a hold-in-place drill Thursday morning at the middle and high school. Two State Police K-9 units, and one from the Sheriff’s Office assisted in the drill.
The drill is held annually and was completed in about 20 minutes. Law enforcement, along with school administrators, conducted a K-9 sweep of the entire high school and middle school.
Trooper Darrell Dening (with K-9 Trick), Trooper Adam Vargeson (with K-9 Rowe), and Corporal Kyle Karcher (with K-9 Eli) were on hand to assist the drill.
“The drill was successful and ran without issue,” said Walton Director of Technology Rick Robinson, who also serves as the district’s safety coordinator. “We want to thank the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and the State Police for assisting with our safety drills. We appreciate their willingness to come to our district and give feedback so we can continue to keep our students safe at all times.”
